This year’s Vike @ Nite 5K awarded prizes in several categories of competition in addition to who crossed the finish line in the top spots as previously announced.
The Most Creative Costume awards went to Traci Barnes, Susan Manlove, Cathleen Manlove and Sam Kiger. This group won Mazzio’s gift certificates.
The Largest Corporate Team was represented by Southern Star and they won a traveling Viking helmet trophy.
The Largest Individual Team award went to the group calling their team “Strong Okie Mamas.” This group won season passes for home Carl Albert basketball games, and will be recognized at the Dec. 3 game with the evening referred to as “Strong Okie Mama Night.”
Hali Repass from Carl Albert said this year’s Vike @ Nite was a great success and that the number of entrants far exceeded expectations for the event. “The main focus of all run events at Carl Albert is to encourage physical activity, increased awareness of fitness benefits and to always support finishing the race regardless of time. Your only competition is yourself, and the finish is what matters,” Repass said.
The college is in the process of planning its first ever half marathon, which will coincide with the annual Vike Hike 5K on March 29.
