Vike@Nite early registration deadline nears

October 2, 2013

The Vike @ Nite Black Light Run is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at Carl Albert State College in Poteau.
Preregistration is open until Oct. 10 for an entry fee of $20, and $30 for registration thereafter. CASC students with a current student ID will pay an entry fee of $15. Registration forms can be found at www.carlalbert.edu or by contacting Hali Repass at hrepass@carlalbert.edu. Online registration is available at http://www.eventbrite.com/event/8189634417/es2/?rank=1. On-site registration will be from 3:30-4:30 p.m. the day of the race.
Repass said the first 200 participants to register are guaranteed chip timing and a Vike @ Nite shirt. Also, the first 15 CASC students to turn in their entry form to Melissa Cunningham, student activities director, will run for free, courtesy of the Vikes Club.
Repass said awards will be given to individuals for the top three finishers in each age group. In addition, team division prizes will be awarded to the largest group of individuals and to the largest corporate group. Teams with a limit of four per group will be awarded gift certificates for the most creative costumes. The fastest team of four will receive free registration to the upcoming Vike Hike Half Marathon or 5K scheduled for March 29. All finishers will be awarded a glow in the dark medal.
The Community State Bank will be cooking hamburgers and hot dogs for a post-race meal at Vike @ Nite. Carl Albert State College will provide chips, fruit and drinks.
Leah McLaughlin, vice president of student affairs said, "Last year's night run was a great success so we are making this an annual event. With assistance from the CASC Campus Police and the Poteau Police Department, this unique event is a safe and enjoyable course to run."
