V.J. Sampson

V.J. Sampson, 60, of Thackerville died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, in Ardmore.
Sampson was born June 29, 1952, in Edmond to O.C. and Mildred Ann (Scivally).
A resident of Love County most of his life, Sampson attended Thackerville High School. He and Judith Faye Wimberly were married Jan. 20, 1972, in Addington Bend. His hobbies included attending auctions, buying, selling, trading; however, his favorite pastime was spoiling the grandchildren. He was of the Christian faith.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Virgil and Lois Ann Sampson and James and Marylu Sampson; great-granddaughter, Kenydi Farrington; brother-in-law, Bob Sisson; and niece, Janice Couch.
Survivors include his wife, Judi Sampson of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jon and Amy Sampson of Ponder, Texas, and Jason and Dawnita Sampson of Marietta; daughter and son-in-law, Shanna and Mike Callihan of Gainesville, Texas; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Violet and W.M. Gowdy of Amarillo, Texas, Edith Sampson of Thackerville, Sharon and Phil Migues of Denton, Texas, Glenda Sisson of Poteau, Elaine and Cliff Midgley of Wister, and Murlene and Jerry Sanders of Poteau; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Monday, Sept. 10, in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta. An online guest book is available at wattsfuneralhome.com.
Serving as casket bearers were George Midgley, Lance Midgley, Phil “Booger” Russell Migues Jr., Russell Broussard, Marcus Sampson and Mitch Sampson. Honorary bearers were Magnum Sampson, Ethan Wimberly, Danny Sampson, Don Sampson, Verlyn Marchbanks and Glenn Sisson.
