Bokoshe Schools will "limp through" the rest of the year with aging buses after voters turned down a bond proposal to buy three vehicles Tuesday, Superintendent Dennis Shoup said.
The proposed $260,000 bond issue would have been used replace the district's three route buses.
The vote was 37-32 against the proposal.
The bonds would have replaced one that is soon to be retired.
"Perhaps we can work a little harder next year" if another bond issue is proposed, Shoup said.
He said all three buses date from the 1990s and have high mileage.
"They're diesel, so they tend to run a long time. We'll just keep patching them up," he said.
