Walter Charles ‘Cotton’ Carmack

Walter Charles “Cotton” Carmack, 84,
of Poteau died Tuesday, July 26, 2011, in
Talihina.
Cotton was born in Poteau on Oct. 30,
1926, to Rube M. and Bertha (McClure)
Carmack. He was a veteran of the U.S.
Navy, serving as a SeaBee in World War II.
He was a retired teacher and also retired
from the state working as a health inspector
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Poteau.
Cotton was preceded in death by his wife, Aldean
Carmack and brother, Ed Gene Carmack.
Survivors include his daughters, Kay Carmack of
Poteau and Sharon Lea Carmack of Vian; son and daughter-
in-law, Charles Allen and Joyce Carmack of Poteau;
brother, Roy Don Carmack of Poteau; grandchildren, Lori
and Jerry Boblett of Shady Point, Clint and Nina Carmack
of Heavener, Caren and Damon Roath of Heavener; great
grandchildren, Kayleigh Boblett, Courtney Boblett, Cooper
Roath, Tripp Roath and Kameron Carmack; other relatives,
loved ones and friends.
Services will be 10 a.m., Friday, July 29, at Oakland
Cemetery Pavilion with The Rev. Jim Cook officiating.
Interment will follow. Honorary pallbearers will be Clint
Carmack, Jerry Boblett, James Vaughn, Damon Roath and
Podie Meeks.
The family will visit with relatives and friends at the
funeral home from 5-7 p.m. today.
