December 8, 2011

WAYNE COBB

ADA — Legendary East Central University men’s head basketball coach Wayne Cobb will have another floor named after him.
Cobb’s signature is prominently displayed on the basketball playing surface of the Kerr Activities Center on the ECU campus.
On Saturday, his name will go on the court at Beames Fieldhouse at Murray State College in Tishomingo, where he coached for nine seasons before coming to ECU in 1978.
“Coaching at Murray State was an enjoyable experience. It gave me the opportunity to get my foot in the door in college coaching. I really enjoyed my time in Tishomingo,” said Cobb.
The ceremony will take place at halftime of the Murray State men’s basketball game against East Texas Flight Club. The game tips off at 5 p.m. in Tishomingo.
He is a native of Muse, where he went to high school. He played basketball through the eighth grade in Idabel.
Cobb has been enshrined into six halls of fame including: NAIA, ECU, Southeastern Oklahoma State, Murray State, Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association (OBCA) and Oklahoma Coaches Association (OCA).
