Weather cancels remaining basketball games for week

December 5, 2013

Not only were the high school football playoffs affected by this week's icy weather, so, too, was the hoop schedule.
The rest of the week's slate of basketball games have been canceled or postponed due to inclement weather conditions.
The Poteau Lady Pirates will have to wait until next week to open their season as this week's Southeast Oklahoma Shootout at McAlester's Southeast Expo Center was postponed and may not be rescheduled. They will open their season next week in the Wilburton Tournament.
The Spiro High School basketball teams were weathered out of their openers tonight at Sequoyah-Tahlequah. Spiro boys coach Dustin Gist said the games have not been rescheduled, and there may not be an open date available to do so. However, he said the games will try to be rescheduled.
Cameron's back-to-back home games tonight with Pocola and Friday night with Panama have been rescheduled due to the icy conditions. The Pocola games will be at 6:30 and 8 p.m. Jan. 3, 2014, while the Panama games will be the same times on Feb. 10, 2014.
The Carl Albert State College home games tonight against Seminole State were canceled. CASC men's coach/athletic director Mike St. John said he would like to get them rescheduled for this weekend, but at this time the contests have not been rescheduled.
