Weekend High School Baseball Roundup

FORT GIBSON — The Poteau Pirates ended coming in second at this past weekend's Fort Gibson Tournament as they lost Saturday afternoon's title game 5-3 to the Wagoner Bulldogs at Carr-O'Dell Park.
Trailing 1-0 in the second inning, the Pirates scored three runs on a Kaydon Evans sacrifice fly and two Wagoner errors to take a 3-1 lead.
The Bulldogs, ranked 15th in Class 4A, cut the deficit to 3-2 in the fourth inning on a passed ball, then a two-run home run by Brad Green and a passed ball produced three runs in the sixth inning.
Talihina 14, Idabel 4; Atoka 9, Talihina 8, 8 inn.: Friday in Atoka, the Golden Tigers split their two games in Friday's three-way.
In the win over Idabel, the Golden Tigers had a 5-0 lead after an inning, which ballooned to 8-0 by the third inning.
In the loss to Atoka, the Wampus Cats scored once in the seventh inning to tie the game at 8-all, then won the game with a single run in the eighth inning.
Austin's bases-loaded walk and Lawson's sacrifice fly in the seventh inning gave Talihina an 8-7 lead, setting up Atoka's late game-winning rally.
