CROWDER — It was a rough weekend for the Howe High School basketball teams at the Class 2A Regional Tournament.
The Lions lost the consolation semifinals the same way they lost the district title game a week earlier — and to the same team and in overtime. The Rattan Rams, who beat the Lions 46-41 in OT in the Class 2A District Tournament title game on Feb. 16 in Wister, defeated the Lions again in overtime Saturday afternoon, this time by the score of 43-34 to win the regional consolation championship and advance to this week’s area tournament in Wilburton. The loss ended the Lions’ season at 21-9.
The Lady Lions, who last year played for the area consolation championship, unfortunately did not make it to this year’s Class 2A Area Tournament as they lost to the Caddo Lady Bruins in the regional consolation semifinals Friday night by a score of 43-40. The Lady Lions, whose senior quartet of Courtney Brown, Abby Landeros, Morgan Huie and Madison Stacy won 100 games in their four years, finished the season at 19-9.
