Weekend update

Saturday, from noon until 3 p.m., the Heavener American Legion Post will play host for a Veterans Christmas Dinner.
The Rednecks and Reindeer fun run is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. at the Springhill Baptist Church in Monroe, followed by a barbecue dinner and auction fundraiser for the Bobbie and Frank Morrison family at 5 p.m.
Three LeFlore County cities will start their Christmas parades at 6 p.m. — Spiro, Talihina and Wister each have scheduled their parades to begin at the same time.
At 6:30 p.m. the LeFlore County Fairgrounds show barn will host a goat roping sponsored by the Heavener First Bapatist Church.
On Sunday, the Poteau First United Methodist Church will present its annual drive-through Living Christmas Story from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Christmas events will continue throughout the week with the Disabled American Veterans Christmas potluck dinner and “Dirty Santa” on Dec. 11 from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the DAV building on N. Broadway in Poteau. On Dec. 16 the First Christian Church Choir will present “The Winter Rose” cantata at 6: 30 p.m. and on Dec. 18 the Choctaw Community Center will host their annual Christmas Dinner at the Dale Cox Community Center at 6 p.m.
