We're back — diamond guys, dolls return; Fast-pitch softball, fall baseball begin today; 2012 Fall Diamond Tab coming out Saturday

August 7, 2012

Can you believe summer is over? For our fast-pitch softball and fall baseball players and coaches as well as yours truly, summer ends today as those two sports will begin today.
Listed at the bottom of this column is the schedule from today's games in both sports through next Monday's games.
For those of you new to the area, this column appears every Tuesday morning's edition. The column will talk about upcoming events, the ins and outs and ups and downs of the world of LeFlore County fast-pitch softball and fall baseball.
Each column will end with the next week's worth of games, from that day's games through Monday's slate of contests.
Also, the column will have a hitter and pitcher of the week in both sports, for which coaches may nominate. Nominations must be in by noon Mondays to make the weekly Tuesday Diamond Notes Column.
Just an FYI — The 2012 Fall Diamond Tab, which will have the preview stories of all the fast-pitch and fall baseball teams as well as schedules, will be in Saturday's edition. The special section will be printed Wednesday afternoon. So, if I haven't taken your team photograph yet or they haven't been emailed to me, they must be taken today and emailed to me by tonight.
If you need help in getting your team photographed, please contact me at (918) 647-3188, Ext. 30 (office) or (580) 341-8419 (cell) and I or one of my co-workers can come take the photograph.
While it seems like summer break flew by faster than ever, I'm looking forward to get the ball rolling — no pun intended — on the 2012-13 athletic season.
I wish all the teams the best of luck this fall on the diamond.
