The 2014 high school fast-pitch softball and fall baseball seasons got under way last week, with some teams taking home some hardware.
The undefeated Wister Lady Wildcats started the season 5-0, including knocking off the last two county champions — last fall's champions, Poteau, in their season opener and last spring's champions, Heavener. The Lady ’Cats beat the Lady Wolves twice in the Pocola Tournament to win the title. Both Wister and Heavener took home plaques from the second annual Pocola Tournament.
In baseball, the Wister Wildcats came in runners-up at the Red Oak Eagle Classic.
