WHITESBORO — As it says in the first line of “A Tale of Two Cities,” “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times ...”
That phrase could sum up the feelings of the Whitesboro High School basketball teams and fans at Saturday night's Class B District Tournament title games at Steve Linker Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs won their title game, beating the Eagletown Eagles 63-50. However, the Lady Eagles spoiled the Lady Bulldogs' title hopes with a 54-36 victory.
However, both Whitesboro teams will advance to this week's Class B Regional Tournament, which will begin Thursday at Leflore before moving to the Wilburton High School gym on Friday and Saturday.
The Bulldogs will play the Kinta Eagles at 8 p.m. Thursday at Leflore for the right to get to Saturday night's title game against the Stringtown-Red Oak winner at 8 p.m. Saturday in Wilburton. Thursday night's loser will still be alive, but must win on Friday and Saturday at Wilburton to make it to the Class B Area Tournament next week at Kingston.
The Lady Bulldogs will play Graham (Weleetka) at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Leflore in the consolation side of the regional tournament. They must win three times in three days to advance to the area tournament.
