Whitesboro boys make own tournament semifinals; Championship game set for 2 p.m. this afternoon

WHITESBORO — The Whitesboro Bulldogs baseball team is two wins away from winning its own tournament.The Bulldogs had no problem with handling the Pittsburg Panthers in an 18-0 victory Thursday night in the opening round of the Whitesboro Tournament.The ’Dogs (4-6) played Eagletown, a 10-9 thrilling, last-at-bat victory over Clayton, in the championship semifinals Friday night with the winner advancing to the title game at 2 p.m. this afternoon.The loser will be in the third-place game at noon today.On the other side of the bracket, Buffalo Valley routed Battiest 12-1 and Panola run ruled Braggs 13-5. The Buffaloes and the Bearcats played in Friday night's other championship semifinal, with the winner meeting the Whitesboro-Eagletown winner for the championship, while the loser will play the Whitesboro-Eagletown loser for third place.Battiest played Braggs and Clayton met Pittsburg in the consolation semifinals Friday afternoon, with the winners meeting for the consolation championship at 10 a.m. this morning.
