Whitesboro boys make own tournament semifinals; Championship game set for 2 p.m. this afternoon

WHITESBORO — The Whitesboro Bulldogs baseball team is two wins away from winning its own tournament.
The Bulldogs had no problem with handling the Pittsburg Panthers in an 18-0 victory Thursday night in the opening round of the Whitesboro Tournament.
The ’Dogs (4-6) played Eagletown, a 10-9 thrilling, last-at-bat victory over Clayton, in the championship semifinals Friday night with the winner advancing to the title game at 2 p.m. this afternoon.
The loser will be in the third-place game at noon today.
On the other side of the bracket, Buffalo Valley routed Battiest 12-1 and Panola run ruled Braggs 13-5. The Buffaloes and the Bearcats played in Friday night's other championship semifinal, with the winner meeting the Whitesboro-Eagletown winner for the championship, while the loser will play the Whitesboro-Eagletown loser for third place.
Battiest played Braggs and Clayton met Pittsburg in the consolation semifinals Friday afternoon, with the winners meeting for the consolation championship at 10 a.m. this morning.
