HOWE — The Wister Wildcats baseball team took home some hardware Saturday night as they defeated the Whitesboro Bulldogs 9-0 in the title game of the Howe Wood Bat Classic at Lions Field.
Wister reached the championship contest with a 1-0 victory over the Smithville Braves in championship semifinal, while Whitesboro got past the Cameron Yellowjackets 13-5 in the other semifinal.
All total, it was a good weekend for LeFlore County baseball as all four plaques from this year's event went to county teams.
Before the ’Cats got the championship plaque and the ’Dogs the runner-up plaque, the Cameron Yellowjackets took home the third-place plaque right after the host Howe Lions captured the consolation championship.
The ’Jackets outlasted the Smithville Braves 4-2 in 10 innings to win the third-place game, while the Lions blanked the Clayton Bulldogs 8-0 in the consolation championship.
