Wister boys get first win of season, rout Battiest in Smithville Tournament

SMITHVILLE — The Wister Wildcats baseball team got its first win of the season Thursday morning, routing the Battiest Panthers 15-0 in four innings in the opening round of the Smithville Tournament.The ‘Cats broke a scoreless tie with a four-run second inning, highlighted by Ethan Billings' first home run of the season, a three-run shot.Heavener and Leflore each played opening-round games later in the day. Look for their details in Saturday's edition.Editor's note: Thursday afternoon's Carl Albert State College softball home doubleheader against Western Oklahoma State College did not take place due to lack of umpires at game time. The games have been tentatively rescheduled for April 5 in Oklahoma City. On the following day, the same two teams will play another doubleheader in Oklahoma City.
