Wister boys make championship semifinals of CASC Classic; Cameron eliminates Howe to reach this morning's consolation championship
Two LeFlore County baseball teams have a chance at hardware as the 17th annual Carl Albert State College Fall Baseball Classic ends its three-day run today at CASC's Ival Goodman Field.The Wister Wildcats made it to Friday's championship semifinals with a 14-4 win over the Howe Lions Thursday night at Wister. The ’Cats played the McCurtain Bulldogs, who stunned the Cameron Yellowjackets 5-4 in eight innings Thursday afternoon at Ival Goodman Field, in the championship semifinals with the winner playing for the title at 3 p.m. this afternoon at Ival Goodman Field. The Wister-McCurtain loser will play for third place at 1 p.m.The ’Jackets stayed alive in the tournament Friday afternoon by beating the Lions 11-1 at Ival Goodman Field to reach the consolation championship game, which will take place at 11 a.m. this morning at Ival Goodman Field.Cameron will play the winner of the Okay-Crowder game, which took place right after Cameron's game with Howe for the consolation championship. Red Oak won by forfeit over Okay, which faced Crowder in the consolation semifinals on Friday.Crowder was bumped into the loser's bracket Thursday afternoon by falling 10-0 to the Smithville Braves, who played the Eagles to for a berth into this afternoon's title game. The Red Oak-Smithville loser will play the Wister-McCurtain loser for third place just before the title game.
