WISTER — It came down to the last inning of the final game of the Class 2A District Tournament before a champion was crowned.
Wister’s Cody Holzhammer hit a two-out RBI single in the seventh inning of Friday afternoon’s Game 3 to lead the Wildcats past the Pocola Indians 3-2.
The two county teams split the first two games of the district tournament on Thursday, with Pocola winning the opener 4-2 while Wister took the nightcap 5-2.
The ’Cats (20-7) will find out Monday where, who and when they will play next week in the Class 2A Regional Tournament.
The Indians end the season at 8-16, and saw their streak of 12 straight district titles snapped as they were denied their 13th consecutive district crown.
