WISTER — It took until about dusk on Saturday, but the Wister Wildcats were able to get the championship plaque of their own tournament.
Caleb Hill's two-RBI double in the ninth inning rallied the Wildcats to a 9-8 victory over the Red Oak Eagles in the title game of the Wister Tournament.
The ’Cats made it to the title game by defeating the Talihina Golden Tigers 9-2 Friday night in the semifinals, right after the Eagles blanked the Whitesboro Bulldogs 10-0 in the first championship semifinal.
In a battle of southern LeFlore County teams, the ’Dogs, too, had to go extra innings to defeat the Golden Tigers 7-5 in eight innings for third place on Saturday afternoon.
The Heavener Wolves took the consolation championship to begin things on Saturday with a 12-3 win over the Howe Lions, who got their first win of the season Friday afternoon with a 7-3 win over Hartford, Ark., in the second consolation semifinal.
