ARKOMA — Things weren't looking too good for the Wister Wildcats basketball team in the boys opening-round action Tuesday night of the inaugural Green Valley Conference Tournament at the Arkoma Gym.
After seeing a first-quarter lead evaporate by halftime and still trailing going into the final period, the ’Cats used a strong fourth quarter to rally for a 62-57 win over the Keota Lions.
The other two boys opening-round games saw the winners beat their opponents fairly handedly as Cameron knocked off Arkoma 58-39, while Howe downed Panama 77-61.
Friday night's semifinals are set as Cameron will play McCurtain, which got a first-round bye, at 6:30 p.m., followed by Howe and Wister at 8 p.m. Panama and Keota will play in the consolation semifinals at 5 p.m., with the winner meeting Arkoma at 1:30 p.m. Saturday for the consolation championship. The Panama-Keota loser will be eliminated from the tournament.
Girls action will resume today and tonight. Tonight's semifinals will have Howe and Keota in a battle of Lady Lions at 6:30 p.m., followed by Arkoma and Panama at 8 p.m.
