SPIRO — On March 26 when the Spiro Bulldogs and the Wister Wildcats met in Wister, it was a pitcher's duel, a 2-0 contest won by the ‘Cats.
When the same two teams met here Thursday night in the winner's-bracket final of the LeFlore County Tournament, there was a little more offense. Unfortunately, however, for the ’Dogs, the outcome was the same.
The Wildcats got a big lead, then survived a potential seventh-inning rally by the Bulldogs to win 7-5.
The ’Cats played Friday night for the tournament title against Spiro, which beat Pocola 2-1 in the loser's-bracket final.
However, it will take this afternoon before a county champion is crowned as the Bulldogs rallied to down the Wildcats 9-4 in Friday night's title game to force this afternoon's if-game at 1 p.m.
In the three loser's-bracket games played Thursday, the Indians were the ones who were left standing.
Pocola beat Panama 11-2 after blanking Cameron 9-0. The Hogs began the day eliminating Poteau 8-7.
