Wister Chief's resignation results in special meeting

August 12, 2013

The town of Wister soon may have a new chief of police after Randy Liles announced his plans to return to work for LeFlore County.
Liles, who has held the chief's for more than three years, will conclude his time as a municipal officer on Aug. 14. Liles said he will begin working as a deputy for the LeFlore County Sheriff's Department the next day.
With the announcement, the Wister Board of Trustees has called for a special meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday to discuss filling the vacant position.
The trustees have included an agenda item to discuss Westbrook as the potential new chief as well as to vote on Westbrook's possible promotion.
The meeting will be held in the Wister Municipal Building.
