WILBURTON â€” The 2012 slow-pitch softball season got started in fine fashion for the Wister Lady Wildcats as they went 3-0 in the Wilburton Festival.
Wister beat Hugo 8-7, defeated Porum 7-4 and handled Vanoss 12-1.
In the victory over Hugo, the Lady â€™Cats rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the opening inning with a single run in the first inning and three runs in the second inning for a 5-3 lead.
After the Lady Buffaloes scored once in the third inning to cut the deficit to 5-4, they regained the lead with three runs in the fifth inning to take a 7-5 lead.
But Wister responded with a three-run fifth to snatch the win away.
In the victory over Porum, the Lady Wildcats scored twice in each of the first two innings for a 4-0 lead.
After the Lady Panthers scored three runs in the third inning and a run in the fourth inning to tie the game at 4-4, the Lady â€™Cats scored three runs in their half of the fourth inning to get the win.
In the rout of Vanoss, Wister had a 3-0 lead after one inning. After the Lady Wolves scored a run in the top of the second, the Lady Wildcats came back with seven runs in their second inning and two runs in the third inning to win going away.
