Wister police in pursuit with horse drawn wagon

August 6, 2012

A Wister man was arrested after he rammed his wagon into cop cars multiple times.

Officer Jordan Westbrook may have spent one of his strangest nights on duty in Wister Saturday night when he notified dispatch he was attempting to stop a man who was driving a wagon down the road.
Westbrook claims the reason for stopping the man was his failure to have headlights or any lighting devices mounted on the wagon during late night hours.
Keith Woolery, 49, of Wister, refused to stop and after Westbrook and another officer boxed him in with their patrol cars, he pulled forward and backed up, striking Westbrooks car three times until he was able to turn the wagon and leave the scene.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the LeFlore County Sheriff's Department arrived on the scene to assist Wister Police.
Woolery was eventually arrested after a struggle with police and was charged with 21 separate crimes. He is currently free on bond.

This is Bob Gillson. My mother Betty has been a subscriber since the 30's. I read the PDN to her each day. She is 99.
Your article on the Horse Drawn Wagon was a hoot. We laughed until we cried. This article should make national news.
The $1000 bail is classic. Law enforcement spent more than $1000 during this arrest. We think that they want him to do something again that is as outrageous and entertaining.
Keep up the good work.
