Wister seniors glad another trip to state is forthcoming

WISTER — The streak of trips to the state tournament is now at four for the Wister Wildcats baseball team. But it almost didn't happen. In last week's Class A Regional Tournament in Wister, the Wildcats were shocked in their opener by county rival Cameron — which had lost all the previous games to Wister — to drop into the loser's bracket of the regional. Wister had to win twice on the final day, outlasting Wright City and then avenging the loss to Cameron by beating the Yellowjackets in the consolation championship game, to earn another trip to state. That regional-opening loss to Cameron got the ’Cats' attention.
