Wister woman is assaulted outside of store

September 7, 2011

LeFlore County EMS prepares to transport the Wister woman who was the victim of a purse snatcher.

A Wister woman was
taken to Eastern Oklahoma
Medical Center Sunday
night after she was robbed
outside a Wister convenience
store.
According to Wister
Chief of Police Randy Liles,
between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Sunday night, Ethel Buckner
was at the Short Stop convenience
store in Wister
when she was assaulted in
the parking lot and her purse
stolen.
Buckner, who was the
only customer, walked out
of the store and toward her
vehicle that was parked on
the side of the building in a
dark area. When she got to
her vehicle her attacker
came from some nearby
bushes where he was hiding
and approached her from
behind. The attacker shoved
her in the back and caused
her to fall to the ground
then he took her purse and
fled the scene.
