Woodrow Wilson “Woody” Turman Jr., formerly of Poteau, died peacefully after a short illness on Aug. 1, 2013.
Woody was born in Poteau on July 16, 1939, to Woodrow and Eunice (Camp) Turman. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Earlene Turman Alexander. He is survived by his sons, John Turman of Oklahoma City and Stephen Turman and wife Julie of Poteau; stepchildren, Stephanie Carbrey of Morris, Ill., David Carbrey of Fort Smith, Ark., Bobby Pipes and wife Tiffany, Daleesa Evans and husband Robert; grandchildren, Bo Pipes and Brooke Evans all of Shreveport, La.; and his former spouses, Karen Turman of Fort Smith and Nancy Putnam of Shreveport. A memorial service will be held at Evans Miller Funeral Home in Poteau at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7.
