FORT SMITH, Ark. — Poteau golfer Cody Shore won his second tournament of the season, but he had to go a little extra to get the win.
Shore had to birdie the final hole to force a sudden-death playoff with Fort Gibson’s Wesley Jackson, tied at 73 — which the Pirate golfer won — to capture the top medalist honor at the Roland Invitational, which took place Thursday at Ben Geren Golf Course.
As a team, the Pirates were second with 328, as Jackson’s Tigers won the team title with a 315.
For the rest of the Pirates, Jarrett Lowrimore shot an 83 to finish eighth, John Scott Sanders carded an 85, Connor Wheat had an 87 and Connor Bandy shot a 104.
The Pirate junior varsity also participated, finishing seventh with a 421. John Buckles broke the century mark, getting below 100, as he shot a 99 to be the JV team’s highest placer. Gary Price shot an even 100, followed by Grant Buckles at 109, Brandon Durant at 111 and Tyler Wolf carded a 123.
Two Poteau JH golfers place at Hilldale Invitational
MUSKOGEE — Two Poteau junior high golfers medaled at the Hilldale Invitational, which took place Thursday.
Ryan Ward was fifth with a 84, while Bryson Terry was eighth at 90.
The Pirates were third as a team with 392. As for the rest of the Pirates, Bryce Weldon shot a 108, Jeremiah Loggains had a 110 and Clint Billingsley carded a 134.
