Relay for Life of LeFlore County will kick off this year’s program at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Poteau City Hall.

Monday’s kickoff will include information tables and a chance to meet other participants.
A short video entitled “What is Relay” will be shown.

Each year, more than 4 million people in more than 20 countries take part in the organized community walks to raise funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society and cancer research.
Teams camp out overnight, each keeping at least one member on the track at all times. Because it’s a team event, individuals do not have to remain for the entire event.
The event also features food and live entertainment.
During a Relay event, participants and survivors celebrate what they’ve overcome during the Survivors Lap.
A luminaria ceremony is held to remember people lost to cancer and honor people who have fought or are fighting cancer.
A Fight Back ceremony inspires Relay participants to take tangible action against the disease.
