Choctaw Nation Health Services Authority is a prominent leader in providing “Excellence in Rural Health Care” in Southeastern Oklahoma.
Continuing to grow through the addition of new services and facility renovations, guarantees their patients receive the most up-to-date, quality healthcare available and improves patient access to care.
CNHSA began renovating and updating facilities in the fall of 2010. Since construction began, renovations in registration, pharmacy, Choctaw Referred Care, labor and delivery and the eye clinic have been completed at the Choctaw Nation Health Care Center in Talihina. Renovations to double the size of the Pediatric Clinic are underway and nearing completion. Upcoming projects include an expansion to the CNHCC Physical Therapy Department and a facelift to the Family Practice Clinic.
In furthering their efforts to improve patient access, new services have been introduced including Employee Health in Durant, Wind Horse (Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services) in Idabel, dental in Stigler and pulmonology and osteopathic manipulative medicine at CNHCC.
One of the most notable changes was the establishment of a new Family Medicine Residency Program. The program was introduced in 2011 and paired residents with veteran physicians by July 2012.
Improving and increasing services requires further staffing which is why many new providers have joined the Medical Staff over the past few months, some of whom are George Stephens, M.D., Pulmonology (CNHCC), Larry Ellis, D.O., Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (McAlester and CNHCC), Bob Womack, D.D.S., Dental (Stigler), Gloria Grim, M.D., Family Practice (Poteau), Jessica Hall, PA-C, Family Practice (Poteau), Christopher Bailey, D.D.S., Dental (CNHCC), Maila Coleman, M.D., Pediatrics (McAlester), Charles Barry Scott, D.D.S., Dental (Idabel), and Peggy Atwood, PA-C, Employee Health (Durant).
Growth within CNHSA will continue as they strive to ensure patient’s expectations are met or exceeded through the delivery of quality healthcare and access to services. Their progress will not only benefit those they serve today, but benefit future generations to come as well.
