Of all the accolades that have come to Carl Albert State College baseball coach Mark Pollard over his three decades, there was one which still eluded the program — until now.
For his defensive prowess last season, Red Oak sophomore pitcher Dwight Camp was named one of nine Golden Glove Award winners in NJCAA Division II baseball.
“I felt pretty good, knowing that Carl Albert had never had one,” said Camp on Saturday when he was officially awarded his Golden Glove. “Being the first player from here to win one meant a lot, and being able to do it for coach Pollard, who’s been here for 30-something years, meant a lot, too. After he’s never had a player do it, to do it felt pretty good.”
