The ninth annual Hooked on Fishin' Kids Tournament took place Saturday at Long Lake Resort. There were 32 boats of anglers who caught 93 fish that weighed a collective 171.63 pounds. The average weight per fish was 1.85 pounds, and four limits were caught.
Broken Arrow's Mason McClain, who was fishing with his father, Mitch, won the tournament with 14.49 pounds caught, which included the big bass winner weighing 4.02 pounds.
Dawson Restine was runner-up (13.54 pounds), followed by Keaton Billy (13.24), Ashton Vickers (12.09) and Cole Bourne (8.55).
Billy had the second-place big bass, a 4.01-pounder, while Garrett Carter had the third-place big bass (3.8 pounds).
The tournament was delayed two hours due to rain, but the fishing was still good — and all the kids had a good time.
After the tournament, Danny “The Doctor of” Love cooked 300 hotdogs, and all kids of door prizes were given away.
In about 365 days, the 10th annual Hooked on Fishin' Kids Tournament will take place.
A big thank you goes out to all who made this year's tournament possible.
Save the world, recycle.
God bless our troops and veterans.
Have a great weekend.
