How about this snake story? Eleven-year-old Gavin Garrett of Poteau was hanging out with his grandfather, Don Garrett, this week when they came across a five-foot, six-inch long rattlesnake in Don’s barn. The snake was nine inches around at its largest point, and had 13 rattles and a button.
When Gavin and Don found the big dude inside the door of his barn, Gavin shot it with a .22 pistol that he had with him only to realize that the pistol had rat shot in it.
Thank goodness that their good friend, Gary Baggs, was there and had a SKS rifle around in front of the barn. He was more than happy to finish off the big fella before it escaped into the barn.
All that happened near Gilmore, which happens to be close to where I live. I’m going to be a little more cautious when I’m headed to my building in the dark!
Have a great week!
