The Pocola Indians football team will get a final shot at fine tuning things when they welcome the Heavener Wolves to town for a 6 p.m. scrimmage tonight at John Carter Field.
The Indians want to improve upon what coach Rick Lang called “stupid football.”
“I want to see us each week getting better, and play for four quarters,” he said. “We made mistakes, so we've got to cut out playing stupid football. I was pleased with how our kids came in and got after it [against Gore in last Friday night's scrimmage]. I want to see our kids compete, and we expect that. We have to eliminate the mistakes, and get into shape. Those are our two main things we're wanting to see. I told the kids we need to improve from our Week 1 scrimmage to our Week 2 scrimmage. We have to improve.”
For the Wolves, they just want to continue building upon what was a strong outing last week against Poteau.
“We're going to go into it trying to focus on trying to get more refined on offense and playing good, solid defense,” Heavener coach Carl Lee said. “We want to try to contain the run, and we want to stay healthy.”
