NORMAN — The Poteau Lady Pirates split their first two games of the University of Oklahoma Tournament on Thursday at Reaves Park.
The Lady Pirates defeated Wayne 8-6, but lost 3-2 to Westmoore.
Howe 15, Cameron 5: In Howe, the Lady Lions had some late-inning offense to break open a close game.
With the game tied at 1, Howe scored once in the second and third innings for a 3-1 lead, but then added four runs in the fourth inning for a 7-1 advantage.
A single run in the fifth inning and a seven-run sixth inning made it 15-1.
Heavener 9, Talihina 1; Heavener 7, Sallisaw-Central 0; Sallisaw-Central 8, Talihina 7: In Heavener, the Lady Wolves got a pair of home wins to end the week.
In Heavener's win over Talihina, the Lady Wolves broke a 1-all tie with a five-run fourth inning. A three-run sixth inning ended the game by run rule.
In Heavener's victory over Sallisaw-Central, the Lady Wolves scored in five of their six innings in which they batted, including a pair of two-run innings in the third and sixth frames.
In Talihina's loss to Sallisaw-Central, the Lady Tigers scored four runs the seventh inning, including a three-run home run, to rally for the win.
The Lady Golden Tigers scored twice in the first and three runs in the third for a 5-0 lead.
