TULSA — Four Poteau High School cross country runners medaled at Thursday afternoon's Tulsa Washington Invitaitonal at O'Brien Park.
Three of those medalists were Lady Pirates. Deven Bond was sixth (13:29), Haley Griggs 13th (14:08) and Sheridan Hoyer was 25th (14:49).
Kaitlan Standridge was 28th (15:01), Kayle Dryer 29th (15:03), Bayleigh Bates 55th (16:21) and Taylor Darneal 61st (16:46).
As a team, the Lady Pirates were fourth with 101 points, finishing behind champion Bartlesville (42 points), Sand Springs (77) and Collinsville (93).
In the varsity boys 5,000-meter race, the Pirates had one medalist, Dylan Fox who was 21st (18:40).
Edwin Espinoza was 62nd (20:50), Isaac Stacy was 63rd (20:51), Bobby Elkins was 78th (21:43), Noah Martin was 79th (21:50), Allan Daniels was 89th (22:45) and Charles Graham was 101st (25:06).
The Pirates were 11th with 289 points. Bartlesville made it a sweep for the Bruins in the team title with 37 points. Skiatook was second (65 points), followed by Tulsa Edison (99), host Tulsa Washington (154), Muskogee (160), Grove (174), Sand Springs (184), Collinsville (211), Mannford (214) and Bixby (243).
The Poteau runners will return to action next Saturday at the Oklahoma State University Jamboree in Stillwater, beginning at 9 a.m. The Heavener teams will also participate in the event.
