The Pocola Indians football team has had a rough two-game road trip the last two weeks, losing 29-20 to the Quinton Savages and 59-0 to the Vian Wolverines in the District 2A-6 opener.
Now, the Indians (1-3 overall, 0-1 in district play) will return to the friendly confines of John Carter Field for a homecoming district game against the Hugo Buffaloes (4-0, 0-0) at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
The Indians are a wounded bunch right now, which does not help the team's efforts at the present time.
“We not healthy,” Pocola coach Rick Lang said. “We have to be healthy for us to have a chance. We have not been healthy since Week 1. We're not healthy, but we'll have 11 guys out there ready and able to play. We've just been inconsistent with our kids out. It's just injuries. It is what it is. We're not going to cry about it. The kids are frustrated with the injuries. Hopefully, sooner than later we'll have our best 11 guys out there, fly around to the ball and prove how good we can play.”
