CLAREMORE — Three Poteau High School cross country runners placed in the top 15 in their respective race at Thursday's Claremore Invitational.
In the girls race, Deven Bond was fifth (12:55), while Haley Griggs was 12th (13:18). Kayle Dryer was 34th (14:15), Kaitlan Standridge 38th (14:34), Brittany Fox 41st (14:37), Sheridan Hoyer 49th (15:04) and Bailee Bates 52nd (15:11).
As a team, the Lady Pirates were fourth with 130 points, finishing behind team champion Owasso (54 points), Collinsville (86) and host Claremore (124).
Dylan Fox was the lone Pirate to place in the top 15, coming in 12th with a time of 18:20. Carlos Panduro was 39th (20:50), Ashby Clark 43rd (21:11.31), Edwin Espinoza 44th (21:11.76), Bobby Elkins 46th (21:15), Arturo Medina 48th (21:25) and Noah Martin 51st (21:38).
The Pirates finished sixth in the team standings with 184 points. Skiatook won the team championship with 36 points, followed by host Claremore (97 points), Grove (98), Miami, Okla. (127) and Collinsville (155).
The Poteau runners will be off until running at the Class 5A Regional Meet on Oct. 26 at a time and date yet to be determined by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association.
