WILBURTON — The Howe High School basketball teams and the Leflore Savages posted wins in Gold Bracket opening-round games Tuesday in the Eastern Oklahoma State College Classic.
At EOSC's Claud C. Dunlap Fieldhouse, the Lions routed the Battiest Panthers 61-21, while the Savages handled the Gans Grizzlies 66-41.
The Lions (6-0) will play Cave Springs at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Wilburton High School Gym in one championship semifinal, while the Savages (7-1) will meet Stuart at the same time at Claud C. Dunlap Fieldhouse in the other semifinal. The winners will play for the title at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at EOSC, while the losers will play for third place at 8:30 p.m. Friday at EOSC.
At the Wilburton High School Gym, the Lady Lions roared past the Cave Springs Lady Hornets 86-21, but the Lady Savages lost 73-39 to the Stuart Lady Hornets.
The Lady Lions (6-0) will play Stuart at 7:10 p.m. Thursday at EOSC in the championship semifinals, with the winner playing for the title at 6 p.m. Saturday at EOSC. The loser will vie for third place at 7:10 p.m. Friday at EOSC.
The Lady Savages (4-4) will play Cave Springs in the consolation semifinals at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at EOSC, with the winner playing for the consolation championship at 7:10 p.m. Friday at the Wilburton Gym.
Blue Bracket action returned to the hardwoods on Wednesday, with an all-LeFlore County championship semifinal match-up in both brackets between Arkoma and Whitesboro.
