Richard “Buddy” Dodd, 85, of Pocola, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, in a Fort Smith, Ark., hospital. He was retired from Colonial Bakery, a veteran of World War II, and a member of Pocola United Methodist Church. He was a lover of southern gospel music and frequented local gospel music events. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita; a son, Gary Allen; his parents; and two brothers.
He is survived by two daughters, Peggy Nelke and husband, Bill, and Marla Young and husband, Steve; four grandchildren, Scott Nelke and wife, Tina, Andrew Young, Benjamin Young, and the only granddaughter, Teresa Underwood and husband, Jason; four great- grandchildren, Daniel and Trenton Underwood, and Raychel and Ryanne Nelke; and caregivers, Sherry, Peggy, Jeniel and Ruth.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Pocola United Methodist Church with burial in Old Union Cemetery in Hackett, Ark., under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood, Ark. Viewing will be from 1-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jason Underwood, Daniel Underwood, Andrew Young, Benjamin Young, Ricky Mooneyham and Eric Neumeier.
