An Arkoma football player is behind bars Thursday
morning for second degree rape charges after a victim
came forward and filed a complaint against him.
Tyler Sweeten, 18, of Arkoma, was arrested on
Wednesday after the minor victim in the alleged crime
reported the incident to LeFlore County District
Attorney’s investigators.
According to court documents, the alleged crime
against the minor victim happened while on school
property.
Thursday afternoon, Sweeten appeared in front of
Special Jeff Judge Singer at 1:30 p.m. for a bond hearing.
Judge Singer addressed Sweeten in open court and
upon the recommendation of Assistant District Attorney
Margaret Nicholson, Singer set bond at $15,000 with a
stipulation that he have absolutely no contact with the
alleged victim in the crime.
The victim in the crime also filed an emergency protective
order against Sweeten should he be released
from custody, with request that he be required to wear
an active, real-time twenty-four-hour GPS monitoring
device at his own expense so that the victim and her
family are able to monitor his location by computer or
cellular devices.
As of press time the Arkoma Mustang wide receiver
was still incarcerated in the LeFlore County Detention
Center.
