Last week, the Poteau Pirates lost their District 4A-4 opener to the Hilldale Hornets, which was their second loss in a row after opening the season 2-0.
“It was disappointing since we were going in feeling very confident,” Poteau High School senior place-kicker Blake Williams said. “We were pretty sure we had it set up in a way that was going to be a pretty sure way for us to win.”
But the Pirates still have six more district games left, including Friday night's road game against Tulsa Webster, meaning there's still a lot left to play for — including a district title and/or a playoff berth.
“That helps, just knowing that our objectives are getting better each week,” Williams said. “We're just going to have to play better than the other team.”
