OKLAHOMA CITY — There's one group of people standing between the Panama Lady Razorbacks softball team and the Class 2A state championship — the Oktaha Lady Tigers.
The Lady ’Backs and the Lady Tigers made it to the Class 2A State Tournament championship game Saturday afternoon.
“I went one time for the state title, and got the silver glove,” Panama Coach Grant Ralls said. “This time, we want to go home with the gold glove. We have a shot at it. Oktaha beat us 1-0 with three starters gone. We're going to get after it. We're ready.”
The Lady Razorbacks nipped the Savanna Lady Bulldogs 1-0 in Friday afternoon's state semifinal, right after the Lady Tigers knocked off the Drumright Lady Tornadoes 9-2 in the other state semifinal.
Panama pulled one out of the fire in Thursday's state quarterfinal against No. 1 Colbert. Trailing 2-0 with one out left in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Lady ’Backs rallied to tie the game to force extra innings, then won the game in the 11th 3-2 over the top-ranked Lady Leopards.
