STILWELL — The third-grade, fourth-grade and sixth-grade Poteau Bandit League teams posted wins Saturday in Stilwell.
The third-grade defeated Stilwell 6-0 as Colton Williamson scored on the third play of the game, a 61-yard scamper to pay dirt. From there, it was a defensive tussle — and it was defense which iced the game for Poteau.
Jordan Tom recovered a Stilwell fumble which was caused by Jacques Adams with 1:27 left to play, and Poteau ran out the clock.
In the fourth-grade game, Poteau won 42-0. Mason Barcheers scored on a 6-yard touchdown run, while Dauntay Warren scored two TDs — on a 64-yard reverse play and a 47-yard run. Keaton Pence took it in from 33 yards out, and Cameron Duncan and Christian Duncan each scored a TD for Poteau. Eastoni Francis was 2-for-3 on extra-point tries, while Tristan Vancil was 1-for-3 on PATs.
The sixth-graders posted a 36-0 victory. Kale Barcheers scored three touchdowns on carries of 70, 66 and 47 yards. Juan Martinez took to the house from 46 yards away, while Seth Ryan had not only a 42-yard bootleg touchdown run but was 3-for-5 on extra points. The game was stopped with 11 minutes left because of lack of players.
There was no fifth-grade game last weekend.
The Poteau teams will entertain Panama on Saturday at Costner Stadium, with games beginning at noon. The third-grade game will be first up, followed by the fourth-grade contest at 1 p.m., the fifth-grade game at 2 p.m. and the sixth-grade contest at 3 p.m.
