Bill “Hoss” Purcell of Cameron died at his home on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011. Bill married Carolyn Blair on June 10, 2006, in Poteau. He was a member of the James V. Callan Dalite Lodge in Irving, Texas, and a member of the McAlester Masonic Lodge. Bill received his 32nd degree at the McAlester Lodge. Bill was a self-employed truck driver with an attitude and sense of humor.
Bill was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Robin Phillips, and two sisters, Susan Counts and Louise Rose.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; two daughters, Crystal Phillips and her husband, Mark, of Cameron, and Rae Duncan and her husband, Donald, also of Cameron; a step-son, Christopher Adams; his mother, Janice Purcell of Fort Smith, Ark.; six grandchildren, Amber, Eddie, and Tory Phillips, Hoss and Jae Duncan all of Cameron, and Kinsey Adams of Poteau; a brother, James Purcell and his wife, Tamara, of Mena, Ark., and many other family, loved ones and friends.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Greenhill Cemetery in Cameron, with Pastor Travis Cook officiating the service. The family will greet loved ones and friends at the funeral home Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. Services are under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home, Poteau.
