It's hard to believe it's been 12 months, but it has. The 2012 LeFlore County Tournament got under way Monday at three sites — host Bokoshe, Heavener and Spiro.
I have to admit, I've been rather highly anticipating this year's event. Last year was my first County Tournament, and I had a blast. Now, that doesn't mean to say that I wasn't worn out at week's end mind you, but I thoroughly enjoyed the week.
Because last weekend's edition had the 2012 LeFlore County Tournament Guide with the brackets inside and that I'm going to have the updated brackets on our sports page at www.poteaudailynews.com by no later than mid morning after each day and night of action, I'll only list at the bottom of this column next Monday's slate of action.
Speaking of the Guide, I want to thank all the yearbook teachers, coaches and parents who helped me obtain the team photographs and numeric rosters which appear in this year's special section. All three sites will have the Guides available for all the fans throughout the week, so that they will have the complete rosters of the teams they are watching.
Also, a word to the three schools. If you run out of Guides, call our office at (918) 647-3188 and if we do have any spares remaining, we'll try to get more to your sites to accommodate the fans.
Class A, B District Assignments
It just seems like the season has just started, and here I am already talking about playoffs.
Either at the end of this week or sometime next week, the Class A and B District Tournament assignments will be made known by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association, which will involve schools from Arkoma, Bokoshe, Cameron, Leflore and Whitesboro. I'd reckon that at least one of these schools' teams, maybe a couple more, will get to be host schools for their respective district tournaments.
As soon as they are available, I'll get them listed in our paper ASAP.
Bokoshe at Keota, 6:30 and 8 p.m.
