WISTER — Run-rule games were the order of the day and night on the opening day of the Wister Tournament on Thursday.
Tournament-host Wister defeated Howe 9-0 in a game stopped after four innings, which was followed by an 8-0, five-inning, run-rule win for the Red Oak Eagles over the Keota Lions.
In the night session, Talihina blanked Hartford, Ark., 12-0 in three innings, then the Whitesboro Bulldogs run ruled the Heavener Wolves 10-2 in five innings.
Friday's championship semifinals had Red Oak facing Whitesboro, then Wister meeting Talihina with the winners playing for the championship at 4 p.m. this afternoon. The semifinal losers will play for third place at 2 p.m. this afternoon.
On the consolation side on Friday, Heavener defeated Keota 12-4, while Howe faced Hartford. The Wolves will play the Howe-Hartford winner for the consolation championship at noon today.
