MUSKOGEE — The Poteau Lady Pirates and Spiro Bulldogs track teams were third at Friday's Hilldale Invitational.
In the girls' division, the Lady Pirates scored 71 points, finishing behind champion Vinita (167 points) and McALester (82). The Spiro Lady Bulldogs scored 42 points.
While Poteau did not have any event champions, Spiro did. Tyeecha Hawkins won the 200-meter dash (26.37 seconds), while Kanisha Hutchinson took first in the long jump (13-6). Hawkins was runner-up in the 100-meter dash (12.5) and third in the 400-meter dash (1:00.19).
The Lady Pirates had several runners-up. Latifah Harris was second in the 400-meter dash (59.61 seconds), Deven Bond was second in the 800-meter dash (2:35.51) and Bond, Jazmine Warren, Sheridan Hoyer and Colleen Peterson were second in the 3,200-meter relay.
Brianna Steele was third in the 200-meter dash (28.31 seconds), Harris, Warren, Hoyer and Peterson were third in the 1,600-meter relay (4:19.93) and Paitton Callery was third in the pole vault (8-0).
Harris was fourth in the 100-meter dash (12.65 seconds), Peterson was fourth in the 400-meter dash (1:04.56) and Bond was fourth in the 1,600-meter run (5:48.03).
Skyler Webster was fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (19.26 seconds) and sixth in the 300-meter hurdles (58.71).
For Spiro, Meochea McKesson was fourth in the shot put (35-1), while Hawkins, Hutchinson, Kaili Norwood and Philicea Mack were fifth in the 400-meter relay (53.12 seconds).
For the Bulldogs, they scored 59 points, finishing behind Vinita (141 points) and Beggs (131).
Todd Whitfield won the 110-meter hurdles (16.44 seconds) to bring home Spiro's only gold medal. He was also second in the long jump, while McKinley Whitfield was fourth in the same event (18-4).
Tyh Hawkins was runner-up in the 200-meter dash (23.17 seconds) and third in the 100-meter dash (11.22), Devon Perry was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (16.92) and Dante' Guidry was sixth in the 300-meter hurdles (46.95).
As for relays, Malik Walker, Perry, Knighe Rhoden and Hawkins were third in the 400-meter relay (44.57 seconds); McKinley Whitfield, Walker, Perry and Hawkins were third in the 1,600-meter relay (3:34.44); Elon Hawkins, Alex Zorzoli and Matt Jones were sixth in the 3,200-meter relay (9:58.61).
