The LeFlore County Bass Club had its third tournament of the 2012 circuit Saturday at Chicken Creek on Lake Tenkiller. There were 28 boats with 54 anglers who caught a total of 94 bass weighing a collective totalof 223.5 pounds. The average bass weighed 2.38 pounds, and 13 limits were caught.
The winning team was Joey Chitwood and Tony Parker, who caught 16.75 pounds of fish to earn $675. Among the fish was Chitwood's big bass, weighing 3.87 pounds to earn an additional $270.
Keith Jones and Russell Rogers were runner-up (13.98 pounds, $405), while Danny Love and Evan Maxwell were third (13.7, $270).
Rounding out the top 10 were Tom and Tyler Hamm (13.04 pounds) in fourth, followed by Randy Martin and Bucky McGee (12.87), Rodney Faulkenberry and Tim O'Daniel (12.84), Joe Phillips II and Nathan Asbill (12.68), Keith Griffith and Gary Steelman (12.32), Dwayne and Ivan Williams (11.96) and Wade Dalton and Josh Walls (11.36).
We caught smallmouth bass all day long, and we had a blast. However, there was nothing longer than 15 inches long. Also, it was a pretty windy day.
The club will have another open tournament April 28 at Potato Hills South on Sardis Lake, then the next day will be the fourth tournament of the Club's 2012 circuit. Sardis is really good right now for some big fish.
Save the world — recycle.
God bless our troops and our veterans.
Have a great weekend.
