Jimmy Don Scroggins, 66, of Shady Point died Saturday, May 5, 2012, at his home in Shady Point. Jimmy was born Nov. 7, 1945, in Oxnard, Calif., to Roy H and Ida Mae (Brookover) Scroggins. He was a heavy equipment operator. Jimmy was a Poteau High School graduate. He was a member of the Calhoun Baptist Church. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Scroggins; and granddaughter, Summer VanMeter. He and Janice Monks were married Jan. 8, 1965.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Janice of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Leon Laymon of Shady Point, Cathy Scroggins of Collinsville, Linda and Jamey Arnett of Albion; son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Dawn Scroggins of Shady Point; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; five sisters, Janet Fox of Panama, Melba Hall of Poteau, Francis Harber of Eufaula, Jean Alice Robertson of Oklahoma City, Nancy Mayberry of Dallas; other relatives and loved ones.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, at Calhoun Baptist Church, Calhoun, with Revs. Steve Hughes and Jim Cook officiating. Burial will be in Shady Point Cemetery.
